The Benefits of Dormant Pruning of Trees and Shrubs

treeMarch is the last month for dormant pruning of trees, shrubs, and roses in the landscape. Proper pruning maintains tree health by eliminating decaying, diseased, crossing, or dead branches. Pruning during the winter months makes it easier to identify pruning needs and won’t impact future buds and new growth. An added benefit, proper pruning helps prepare your trees for severe weather and is important for certain species in order to minimize insect attack. Pruning also improves the aesthetics of the plant and improves its overall structure.
